Valdez Cacao is a family business deeply rooted in the rich cocoa heritage of the Dominican Republic. Specializing in the cultivation and processing of premium quality cocoa, their plantations are located in Castillo, a municipality in the Duarte province – the heart of the national cocoa industry. This fertile region produces approximately 62% of the country's cocoa and is highly valued in global markets for the superior quality, unique flavor profile, and exceptional aroma of its beans.
Valdez Cacao's origins trace back to 1961, when Mr. Porfirio Valdez, driven by a pioneering spirit and a deep connection to the land, launched what would become a multi-generational family enterprise. With limited financial resources but unwavering determination, he began purchasing cocoa and acquiring small plots of land, laying the groundwork for what has grown into a well-established business dedicated to excellence, sustainability, and community development. Valdez is socially involved in supporting the local population; the farm provides work, offers social services, has built two aqueducts, a baseball field, and connected the primary school to the internet.

Definite Chocolate
Definite Chocolate is a micro batch bean to bar chocolate maker from Dominican Republic. By sourcing directly from Dominican farmers, they only use high-quality single origin cacao which they roast, winnow, grind, temper and mold into fine chocolate bars with the utmost care. As much as possible, Definite Chocolate uses only locally sourced ingredients to support local industry and to give a touch of Caribbean feeling to every tablet. All bars are made naturally, without any additives. Definite Chocolate was founded by Jens Kamin, who moved from Germany to the Dominican Republic to achieve his dream of becoming a chocolate maker. They are the first Dominican chocolate producer to win an international award, which they earned in 2017 when the company was only one year old.
