The agricultural cacao cooperative (WORKAKAO) consists of 900 affiliated families. They are all located in 5 municipalities of the Meta department: Granada, El Castillo, El Dorado, Cumaral, and Guamal. The soil in the region is ideal for cocoa production due to the high quantity and quality of organic matter.
Located in central Colombia, Meta is known for its magnificent landscapes and extraordinary sunsets. This region is characterized by vast grassy plains that stretch from the Serranía de La Macarena in the southwest to the Andes mountain range in the west. It is from this land of turbulent streams and impressive waterfalls that Tibitó sources the finest cocoa beans.
The cocoa that WORKAKAO sourced from the municipality of Guamal received the Excellence Gold Award at the CHOCOA festival in Amsterdam, the world's most prestigious cocoa competition.
